Fred's Inc
Innasite
worked with the Memphis-based SCB Technologies to implement
a solution for Fred's - one of the leading retail and pharmacy
chains in South-East (USA). The Fred's system is migration
of their Co-op Advertising and New Store Allowance Billing
application from dBaseIII to a Windows DNA architecture
and SQL. The objective of this migration is to:
· Ensure a more stable
operating environment and provide for routine backup
scheduling
·Provide a scaleable
application Architecture to allow for additional modules
if needed as well as potential web based integration.
Salient features of the application:
1.
Maintains address files of vendors, prints vendor address
listing and merges vendor addresses into a single invoice.
2.
Creates invoices of different types according to the income
category. Ability to edit and print invoices and create
mailing labels for vendor mails.
3.
Generates reports by all claims, all payments, outstanding
balance, aging reports for different income categories.
Technology
Used:
Client server standalone application running on Windows
2000 operating system with SQL 7.0 as the database server.
The complete application is designed and developed in VB.NET.
Technology Highlights:
The
report generation module has been developed using Crystal
Reports for Visual Studio .NET. This brings advantages like
rapid application development, ability to generate complicated
reports and charts on the fly. It exposes a report object
model which can interact with other controls on the web
form and export reports into widely used formats like .pdf,
.doc, .xls, .html and .csv. Fetching data for crystal reports
has been implemented using the push model where we have
written stored procedures to handle the connection, populate
the dataset and pass it on to the report.
