mWorkerNet3
mWorkerNet3 (from Supply and Service Inc.) is a mobile
application developed on Microsoft Pocket-PC based technologies
for asset maintenance at point of performance. It eliminates paper
forms and duplicate data entry from the initial work request through
the work order life cycle and streamlines assignment of work to
strategic asset managers like technicians, workers etc. in the field
anywhere, anytime. Workers can view, perform their assigned work
using Pocket PC and transmit results via a wireless or network connection.
The application integrates with MAXIMO 5, an advanced enterprise
asset management software and Softwrench.
It includes the following modules:
Workorders: It allows technicians to receive, complete
and send work orders from the field. In addition Workorder includes
labor, material and new workorder sub modules
a) Labour module captures the resources and effort
details spent on a particular job.
b) Materials helps record data on the material used for the job.
c) New workorders is designed to generate additional work orders
on the field that can be taken up immediately or schduled for other
technicians.
The application connects to Oracle database at the
backend using ViaXML. The solution uses this layer to communicate
between the Pocket PC application and the Oracle 9i DB. ViaXML solution
uses database scripts written as a XML document that gets executed
at the server end through a series of business logic functions encapsulated
in a ASP script that acts as a gateway page. This makes the update
process much faster.
Technology
embedded Visual Basic and embedded Visual C as the scripting
language. SQL Server CE 2.0 as the Pocket PC database. ViaXML server
and Oracle 9i as the backend database.
